Professional Background

Meng Yean is a general dental surgeon with special interest in periodontics (gum health) and wisdom tooth surgery, working in both neighbourhood and city practices. She has been in private practice for more than 10 years. Since her late teens, Meng Yean has done dental and non-dental volunteer work both locally and abroad, as she believes in giving back to the community. Healthcare, education and poverty alleviation are causes she looks out for.

Over the years through word of mouth, Meng Yean managed to make adults with dental phobia and anxious first timer children enjoy their returning visits more. She prides herself on her chairside manner, patience and empathy. Acknowledging their vulnerability and providing a safe space, she has been changing one smile at a time. Meng Yean aims to make an impact in the world one client at a time through life coaching, as she believes this ripple effect will multifold.

Her coaching clients are in their thirties to sixties, across different industries – healthcare, early education, finance, government agencies etc. She strives to be in tune with clients’ needs to help them discover their full potential. Personal Background

Meng Yean is born and bred in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and completed her university degree in Dunedin, New Zealand before relocating to Singapore. Family and friends’ favourite question for her since adulthood is “where are you heading to next?”. Yes, practicing micro-retirement even before it became trendy. Meng Yean has travelled to over 40 countries but slowed her pace significantly since pandemic, preferring slow travels in less mainstream destinations and hikes in nature. Some of her favourite travel experiences include hiking in Patagonia region, exploring stunning landscapes in Türkiye, taking epic train rides alongside friendly locals in Sri Lanka, and immersing in strong cultural traditions and serenity of Bhutan.

Meng Yean is an inflexible yogi. She has learned to enjoy yoga practice the past few years as it kept her grounded, made her focus on the present moment, have more self and body awareness. She also enjoys weekday night cycling along park connectors in Singapore – the serenity among hustle and bustle is very calming and fuels the soul.

Personal Philosophy

Respect is a two-way street and always treat others like how we would like to be treated. Throughout her years in the dental industry, personal connections made in adulthood and travels, Meng Yean has made people around her feel comfortable, heard and seen. She is always having best interests at heart, receiving and providing different perspectives and insights in her interactions with others. Being honest, authentic, also willingness to communicate and comprehend had sparked a little something in her. Meng Yean believes that everyone needs to do inner work on themselves to make the world a better place. “I am whole, I am enough” is her mantra.
