I started my career as a Laboratory Technologist in the Department of Biological Sciences, National University of Singapore, where I supported the teaching and research laboratories, and led local and overseas field trips under the Ecology, Evolution, and Biodiversity specialty. After more than 3 years in this field, I went on to pursue an education in social work and made a career switch to join the social service sector.
At the beginning of my career in the social service, I served migrant workers in a non-governmental organization, and thereafter moved on to a family service centre where I predominantly served the local population. Over the past 6 years, my line of work has gifted me with opportunities to support individuals and families with complex needs.
I am trained in case and crisis management, and have experience in handling high risk situations such as those that involve suicide, self-harm, family violence, and homicide. In addition, I specialize in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT) where I work with children and youth, in collaboration with their caregivers, to address their psychological trauma.
I have a strong professional interest in neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and have had opportunities to serve families from the special needs community, a privilege that I am very grateful for.

I am a nature lover who enjoys spending time outdoors to appreciate the beauty and tranquillity of nature. Nature reminds me of how small I am in this universe and never ceases to keep me grounded. I consider myself to have an inquisitive mind – one that enjoys observing people, things, and situations, and explores new ideas and the relationships between them.
Having interacted with people from different walks of life, I believe in the value of relationships and its role in alleviating the pandemic of loneliness and igniting change in the lives of others. Being in the company of people from diverse cultural backgrounds, both locally and abroad, has given me different perspectives and a deeper appreciation of how language and culture shape our identity and way of life.
In my free time, I take part in sports activities, listen to and create music, read, write, crack jokes, and attempt to become an autodidact in my areas of interest.
