Professional background

Having been an educator for over 15 years, Huishan started her passion in Design Thinking in 2012. Since then she has been the Project Lead for dozens of social projects, ranging from helping to improve the lives of farmers in Thailand to uncovering the issues underlying truancy in children from low-income households. These days, she is using her Design Thinking skills in the public policy space, helping government leaders to solve problems with citizens, and not just for citizens. She has lead numerous consultancy projects, working with EDB, MCI, MSF and more, all with the end-goal to help improve the lives of citizens. These days, her specialisation is in the field of Transformation, but ensuring that in the midst of Transforming agencies, civil servants don’t forget to listen to the voice of the citizens they are serving.

Specialty & Expertise

Huishan is known to be good at picking out things unsaid and uncovering them for rich insights. She will offer encouragement but will not hold back when tough love is necessary to push you to be a better version of yourself.

Personal Background

Huishan has a love for travel and a natural curiosity to learn more about people and their lives. Her wanderlust has brought her to many countries, and even working stints in Hong Kong and China. She enjoys a sense a wicked sense of humour and likes to think she has one. In her free time, she spends way too much time on Netflix and watching food porn. She is also a pastry-wannabe and her other strong anchor in life is her faith in God. Other strong interest include animals (all kinds though she is still unsure about monkeys), and the Gunners.

Coaching style

Authentic, nurturing with a tinge of tough love, a pair of listening ears and box of tissues

Personal philosophy

Everyone has a story to tell and a path to tread. There’s no such thing as a mistaken path as all it takes is a masterstroke to turn that into art.
