I have more than 10 years of cross-cultural work experience in the US, China and Southeast Asia, supporting companies to expand their business outside of Singapore. I have led teams in the US and Singapore, and so learnt to adapt my leadership style in different contexts to be effective.
As a millennial, I am also developing my own style of leadership, one that is highly
consultative and collaborative, to best harness the power of diverse teams. I am personally known for my ability to catalyse change, and being a persuasive presenter. I have been in charge of projects that have changed the way my organisation develops strategies.
My latest challenge is to lead a “start-up” within government to transform the way we create regulations.
Conscious parenting – to make the best use of one’s limited time with our family
Empowering leadership – supporting team members to deepen their skills and ownership of issues
My family is at the heart and centre of who I am. I aim to create, together with my husband, a nurturing environment so that our children become adventurous, responsible and courageous individuals who contribute to society. I therefore do my best to model the behaviours I hope my children will exhibit.
I believe in constantly challenging myself to be better, eg setting tough goals and learning everyday, through reflection and observing others. I volunteer and am active
in my local Taekwon-do club – a small way to show my appreciation to my local community.
I also believe that it is important for me to be secure as an individual, and not just being my children’s mother or my husband’s wife. As such, I actively pursue my own interests such as reading and taekwon-do.
I adopt an evidence-driven and experimental approach with my clients. I like to work with clients to be more aware, so that they gather more data points on themselves and the external environment.
I hope then to translate this heightened awareness to concrete steps, tweaking things along the way with new data on what has worked and not worked, so that clients get results.
