Professional background

With 20 years in general management and leadership capacity, I am an innovative and hands-on business leader with a proven record of turning around businesses through market focused strategies and organization transformation. I have been recognized as the catalyst for implementing change and most noted for creating results oriented cultures and developing leadership teams to drive simplification, focus and growth.

Have held top roles in sales, operation and general management in the building products industry in Asia Pacific Region, I have

– led a rapid growth sales organization in Singapore (annual sales turnover of USD60 million);

– a start-up manufacturing business in Indonesia (annual sales turnover USD3 million);

– a business transformation program in Malaysia, Thailand and Taiwan to turnaround businesses during the 1998 Asian Crisis;

– led the turn-around effort as the business President in Taiwan (grew revenue from USD14 million to USD31 million with higher CM in 4 years) and in Guangzhou (led an employee body of 367 people, increase revenue by 50% to USD98 million) as well as head an accelerated growth businesses in the Asia Pacific region (grew market share from 1% to 5% and revenue from USD14 million to USD28 million in 4 years).

I have lived and worked in Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia, Taiwan and China. My career spans both privately held, family organizations and public listed multinationals of Australian, US and European origin.

These diverse and multicultural experiences have afforded me the ability to deal with almost any business situation, gain quick insights, build collaborative relationships among stakeholders and focus on key change levers. I believe business and life are highly integrated and not mutually exclusive. Business is essentially a human activity and business concepts, models and processes are applicable to how we shape our lives, how we deal with relationships and how we evaluate success and determine what is valuable in life.

Specialty & Expertise

I believe in simplification and focus to maximize effectiveness in achieving results – simplify the way we perceive issues and the desired outcomes ; focus resources on a small number of key levers with the greatest impact.

As a coach, I will support client’s learning and growth according to client’s preference but always insisting that client takes total responsibility for his/her results – “no one’s coming to deliver your results”

Personal Background

Lived and work overseas since 1997. In Indonesia, I learned how the environment and life circumstances can have an outsize impact on a person ‘s mindset, capabilities and behaviors. Any well-intentioned change need to be sensitive to such power of the context.

The learning in the greater China region has been to navigate moral ambiguity where facts are often negotiable, truths are relative and expediency frequently supercedes doing the right thing. Learn not to judge, address the client’s interests while steadfast in holding a “red line” that is pre-determined according to values and principles that cannot be violated.

At home, I am blessed with siblings that have very different religious convictions – one is a Muslim, another a Buddhist, some Christians, a Taoist and yet another a free thinker. This has taught me not just to tolerate differences but to appreciate and embrace diversity. Instead of fixated by differences, I prefer to validate aspirations that are common among people and focus on the universal drivers of human responses and behaviors.

Coaching style

Deliberate and dynamic, adaptable to meet client’s needs

Personal philosophy

I have worked with people from multiple nationalities, diverse cultures and vastly different economic circumstances – as a subordinate, as peers and as colleagues. The experience gained from such interactions has led me to believe that people act with the best intention conceivable, as defined by their belief, capability and mindset.

I work on the premise that people has the capacity to learn, change and grow. And with appropriate support, every individual is able to reframe how he/she thinks, expand their choices of behavior and realize his/her limitless potential.
